If you’ve eluded hibernation thus far this winter, the good news is we’re almost halfway to spring. But with the best part of two months to go, perhaps your home is craving a winter warm-up.
Dress your windows
One of the easiest ways to keep warmth from being sucked back outside at dusk is curtains or blinds – which also happen to add a new dimension to the ambience of a room. Simply pull them shut when the sun goes down – but don’t forget to open them on those sunny winter days.
If there’s nothing worse for you than cold feet on cold floors, add some pizzazz with a chic rug that’s also warm. Think sheep skin, shag, wool. Perhaps a soft, new carpet will make the agenda next winter.
Forget sympathising with winter neutrals, bold and bright is still trending. If your room needs that extra splash, throw in some sophisticated statement items to warm the interior. An apricot bedspread. A teal feature wall. Gold cushions. Geometrics are also still in – perfect for softening and warming solid blocks of colour.
Celebrate the season with new textures, and add warmth at the same time. Wool, linen, timber – throws, lightshades, artwork. When not in use, keep the warmth in sight by arranging blankets on a blanket ladder.
Let it snow
If a wintry wonderland is your scene, add a hint of cool and freshen your setting with easy accessories in white, silver or blue.
